The Planning Council sponsors Child and Adult Care Food Program in Family Daycare Homes in Maryland and parts of Virginia. CACFP is administered by Maryland State Department of Education in Maryland; and by US Department of Agriculture, Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in Virginia.

The US Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is part of the National School Lunch Act, which offers infants, pre-school and school age children healthy meals and snacks. CACFP is significant to improve the quality of daycare and to make it affordable for may low income families. Children age 12 and younger are eligible to receive up to two meals and one snack, each day at a family daycare home.

Qualified licensed or otherwise regulated providers who participate in the program receive:

  • Reimbursement (click to get to reimbursement rates) for nutritious meals serve to children
  • Training in nutrition and childcare, technical assistance
  • Information and resources, master menu, helpful hints
