The Planning Council’s, Ashley Love, is one of the HMIS (Homeless Management Information Systems) System Administrators, providing homeless solution provider agencies with HMIS database training, customer service relations, and technical assistance.
The Continuum of Care (CoC) agencies that receive federal funding are required to use the HMIS database to report data to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to detail the extent and nature of homelessness in our region. Ashley bridges the gap between the HMIS database and the CoCs by creating and presenting training, manuals, guides, and tutorial videos.
Ashley’s work requires a high level of concentration and strong attention to detail as the communications and directions she prepares for the CoCs must be precise to ensure they report data to HUD that is complete, accurate, timely, and consistent. This is fitting for the perfectionist nature of Ashley as her work motto is “if you don’t do it right the first time, when do you have time to fix it?!”
The challenging work of an HMIS System Administrator is implementing the constant HMIS database updates requested by HUD and resolving the questions, concerns, and needs of the HMIS users. Ashley is rewarded by making a difference when she can advocate for HMIS users to HUD and reduce user error rates in reports. But she also appreciates the monthly get-togethers at TPC so she can take a break from the demands and enjoy some friendly competition while interacting with her colleagues. These get-togethers are a way for TPC to give thanks to our staff, especially Ashley for setting up TPC for success as she assists in developing standard operating procedures, workflows, and training curriculum specific to every database component to carry HMIS data administration in the future.
On a personal note, you will meet no one who is a greater dog lover than Ashley. She has two dogs and devotes herself to finding the new and best dog parks for them. Ashley has a propensity for trying new things, such as identifying and walking new trails and trying new restaurants (especially ones that serve fried pickles and cheese curds). She also likes to indulge in reality TV, cooking for special occasions, and being an aunt to her sisters’ nieces and nephews. Ashley is one of the first two social work graduates from UVF (University of Valley Forge). Her claim to fame was being featured in a radio commercial when she was seven years old for her town’s local ice cream shop.
