Peggy Myers is the Operations & Record Management Specialist for the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) at The Planning Council (TPC). She is responsible for keeping the program’s documentation and file storage up to date. She plays a role in maintaining the approved status of childcare providers participating in the Food Program. As part of her duties, Peggy verifies the school zones in which providers operate to ensure they receive the correct reimbursement rates for meals served to children in their care. She also prepares essential materials for audits of childcare provider homes and centers across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
In addition, Peggy processes providers’ claims for reimbursement by reviewing their meal and benefit applications. She also handles parent applications, which can impact provider reimbursement rates if a child’s family qualifies for SNAP or free lunch programs.
Lastly, Peggy serves as a point of support for both childcare providers and TPC’s CACFP Field Monitors, addressing their questions and concerns. She thrives in this role, offering not only guidance but also encouragement, a calming presence, and moments of laughter that uplift those she works with.
Her positive impact on the team has not gone unnoticed and carries over to the work culture at TPC. Peggy was voted the recipient of the Playground Award in 2024 for being “most likely to make work fun.” In 2025, she was honored with the Social Butterfly Award for “always connecting with colleagues.”
Given Peggy’s natural ability to build and maintain relationships, it is no surprise that she enjoys spending her free time with her partner, two daughters, and beloved pup. And with her consistently positive attitude, it’s only fitting that her daily music list includes southern soul and upbeat R&B.
