CACFP Field Monitors, Wanda Hall and Hannah Okoronkwo, were proud to represent The Planning Council at the Family Block Party in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The event was hosted by The Family Tree, an organization “committed to ensuring every Maryland family has the tools to raise children to become healthy, productive, and competent adults.”
Held from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm, the community event featured a wide range of entertainment, including a live DJ, a step show performance, a marching band, face painters, balloon artists, raffles, book bag giveaways, and numerous community resource vendors.
As part of the resource lineup, The Planning Council – administrator of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) – was present to share valuable nutrition information. Wanda and Hannah engaged attendees with guidance on developing healthy food habits, including:
- Developing healthy habits with less sugar
- Tips for a “choosy” eater
- Whole grains make a difference
- Using the nutrition facts label
- and much more!
The Family Block Party served as an excellent opportunity to promote nutrition wellness and connect with families in the community, reinforcing CACFP’s mission to support healthy growth and development of children.
